Essential content
A listener should understand the episode without reading a wall of text. Front-load the topic and benefit, then add only information that helps someone listen, act, or verify.
- Two- or three-sentence summary
- Three to seven specific takeaways
- Correct guest name, role, and approved bio
Navigation and resources
Timestamps and links reduce friction when they correspond to the published audio and real resources mentioned in the episode.
- Check timestamps after the final edit
- Use descriptive link labels
- Remove tracking parameters that are not needed
Final quality check
Treat show notes as a published editorial asset. Read them once without the transcript and once while checking the risky details against the source.
